About TanyaBio of Tanya Lily-Reid, BankTruth.org writer extraordinaire After a physical disability forced me from the news desk I loved, I realized 1. I needed to get my head out of the corporate world and fast and 2. how grateful I am to be a writer. So after some soul searching and honestly a little pouting—I really am a news junkie—I decided to put my talent to good use as a freelancer and author. BankTruth.org was my second job and my first paying client. While I do receive a stipend for my work I am never paid by any of the financial institutions I review, nor am I a customer of any of them so I feel my reviews are unbiased and represent my actual experience as a would-be customer. I spend considerable time clicking through the pages of the website to provide you with the most thorough review I can give without actually becoming a customer. While there is a place for customer reviews, as a journalist I have learned the value of a “detached” review. Since I am not a customer I have no emotional attachment—good or bad—to the banks and financial products I write about so my reviews are based solely on my experience exploring their web presence. When I am not researching and writing for BankTruth.org I am working on my first novel and freelancing for other unrelated websites. I still miss firing-off a tightly-crafted news story on deadline or being at my desk until 3 a.m. and getting the newspaper ready to go to the publisher but at least I'm still writing—it's my oxygen. And when I'm not writing I manage to take care of my husband and four children, design and build disability-accessible furniture and work on the start-up of my own company. I guess you could say some nights I'm still at my desk at 3 a.m. Life is good!
