Amegy Bank Savings Account Rating (2/5)

Amegy Bank’s online savings account, similar to many of its other accounts, was below average.  The reasons are the same as well, in that the rates offered by Amegy Bank are abysmal to say the least.  One needs to have at least $1,000 to make any interest at all, and the interest rate for $1,000-$50,000 is only 0.10%.  Even if one were to have more than $100,000 put into the account they would only receive an interest rate of 0.30%.  This is simply not good enough for a saving account, even in today’s difficult economic times.  Why even consider opening an account when one can get an interest rate 10 times higher or more elsewhere?
