American Express Bank Website Usability

We found American Express Bank’s website usability to be good. What is great about the website is that it is very simple and easy to navigate. Most of the information presented with each account offered is straight to the point, with rates displayed upfront in large font. However, there was one main area of concern when it came to American Express Bank. When checking into a specific account on the website it is very difficult trying to find out what the fees and penalties are. It says on the page “no fees, no minimums,” but this only applies to opening or maintaining an account. What about overdraft fees? What are the fees associated with an early withdrawal from a CD account? After searching around for some time one is led to the dreaded “deposit account agreement,” which takes awhile to get through in order to find out the exact amount of penalties and fees. If American Express Bank had simply been upfront ton its website about all penalties and fees associated with each account, they would have scored  higher.
