Chase Bank Ratings

Chase Bank is on the lower end of our overall bank ratings. While its website has a good look to it and their CD accounts have a lot of great perks, there were also many negatives worth mentioning with the bank. The customer service is below average (or just about right depending on your point of view) when it comes to the banking industry and the interest rates offered on their savings, money market, and checking accounts were meager to say the least. Chase should stick with credit cards and mortgages if it knows what is best for itself.

WOW! I did not know banks could tell such bold face lies! Putting holds( over a week long!) on $$ that they have already cleared from another account – then charging me fees on top of it. Not just once but multiple times… then telling lie after lie… so sad

I travel internationally on a regular basis, I always notify Chase, where I have IRA, Savings, and Checking accounts, before I leave. The phone rep and the back of my debit card both provide an international assistance number and specifically say that I should call collect if I have any problems while abroad. On my last trip, I had a minor issue which needed to be resolved asap, so I called the international operator, gave the number, and asked to reverse the charges. I tried this three times, and Chase always refused the call. I have since emailed several times and get only the stonewall or the runaround. Because of this persistent dishonesty, which I realize is drilled into a banker like marching is drilled into a soldier, I am in the process of closing my Chase accounts and transferring to other institutions.

As soon as I started to close accounts and transfer to other Banks, mysterious fees started to appear on my Chase statement, including a total of eighty dollars, coincidentally, exactly the amount in my savings account, for a .99 cent overdraft which I covered the same day. When I called about this, they said that is what I get for agreeing to overdraft protection. When I asked if this seemed like a proportionate response to a $0.99 overdraft, they stonewalled and told me again that I agreed to the overdraft protection.

I look at their latest thievery as the costs associated with dealing with bankers and as the last dime that they will steal from me.
