On the PNC website it informs readers that most financial experts agree it is best to have some money in FDIC Insured accounts.  PNC offers two different savings accounts, as well as money market account and CDs, to keep your money as safe as possible.  The two savings accounts offered are the Statement Savings account and a Saving Max account, both of which are FDIC Insured.

Different Savings Accounts

The statement savings account is a more basic account.  It requires $25 to open the account and only requires $1 in the account to gain interest.  It offers unlimited deposits and three free withdrawals per month.  Savings accounts for children under 18 years of age are always free and don’t have a minimum balance.  This account does have service charges, but they can be waived if you sign up for automatic transfers of at least $25 from your PNC checking account to your savings account.

The Saving Max account requires $100 to open the account.  To gain interest on your money, you have to have at least $10,000 in the account.  The interest is tiered depending on how much money you can keep in the account.  To find the rates you will have to visit the website and enter your name and ZIP code.  This account offers unlimited deposits and free telephone and online banking.  There is a monthly service charge only if your account balance falls below $10,000.

How to Apply

The different savings accounts shown on PNC Banks website are easy to access and compare the features of each account.  The interest rates are figured specifically to your location.  If you are interested in applying, the easiest way is to apply online, but you can apply at a branch if you live by one.  To find other banks savings account plans, look over the bank reviews of the best banks.
