Savings Accounts

U.S. Bank has savings accounts available for those looking to put money away and have tools and employees available to help you along your saving path.  This post will talk about the savings accounts offered through U.S. Bank, but for other accounts you can read our full US Bank review.  U.S. Bank’s standard savings account is FDIC Insured and is ideal for those first time savers.  This account has a minimum opening deposit of $25, and has a monthly fee of $4.  This fee can be waived if you keep a minimum daily balance of $300 or a monthly balance of $1,000.

U.S. Bank also offers a Goal Savings account which is set up with automatic withdrawals from your U. S. checking account.  This account is also FDIC Insured and has no minimum opening deposit or monthly maintenance fee.  There is a required $25 dollars transfer for each account statement cycle.  This account is a great way to keep you on track with your savings needs.  You don’t have to remember to deposit money and you can automatically transfer as much money as you want, as long as it is more than $25.  The interest rates and APY of these accounts is at 0.05 percent for the standard savings account and for the goal savings account.

One nice thing about savings accounts with US Bank is they offer a Star Savers Club to help you teach your children how to save money and get them on the right track.  This account comes with no monthly fees or a monthly minimum balance.  The minimum opening deposit is $25.  This account is only available for children under 17 years old.  When the child reaches 18 years old, this account is automatically transfered into U.S. Bank’s standard savings account.

If you are interested in an Health Savings Account, US Bank offers one.  This HSA is a good option if you have an insurance plan with a high deductible.  There is no minimum opening balance, but is a $2.50 monthly fee is you don’t keep at least $2,500 an average monthly collected balance.
