Everbank is not to be underestimated. Their website is revolutionary and so are their banking methods. Our Everbank video review highlights their website http://everbank.com and just what you can find on their website along with some things you should be know. If you visit our best banks, Everbank has a rate that is equal with the others, however, if you go to the Everbank website, they will be showing you a rate that is about .2% higher than what is listed on the chart. The reason for this is that they give you a 3 month bonus rate (only if you are new to EverBank), which boosts the total APY to be much higher than the APR rate.

One thing we noticed is that in order to make their rates look really good, they have a calculator that require you to put in a monthly amount of at least $50 dollars. This makes it hard to see how much interest you earn, and how much money you simply are depositing.

We have noticed that other banks, you have to either call them or read reviews to learn about their bank accounts. In this video review of American Express, we outline the strength of their company as it relates to online banking. They recently have added bank account services such as high yield savings accounts and certificates of deposits accounts. We talk about the advantage of opening a bank account with American Express even though their rates aren’t the best rates, they are at least very competitive rates. The benefit of using American Express for banking is the ease for paying off your American Express credit card(s). Of course, American Express is most well known for it’s credit card offers and services, however, American Express realized that online banking is a great service for them to provide their customers. Also, offering online banking will help American Express attract new credit card customers by offering competitive cd rates and savings rates. On AmericanExpress.com they have a quick and customer friendly comparison chart that helps you compare and find the best bank account for you. In short, their certificates of deposit has a fixed apy rate, meaning, whatever the rate is when you deposit your money, will be the rate for the entire length of your cd account term. There is a penalty for early withdrawal, as with all cd accounts. The American Express savings account is actually the best rate in comparison to national savings accounts. However, this rate is flexible, meaning it can change and will change with the market rates. It was interesting that on the home page of American Express, they did not have a link to their banking accounts. They did have a link to their credit cards from their banking accounts. You get the feeling that the banking account section isn’t important enough to put on their home page but their credit cards are important enough to put all through out the site. However, they do advertise aggressively through online ads trying to attract new banking customers, but we can see that their biggest industry is of course credit cards. The American Express review goes into full detail about the companies history, their products and services for banking, and some of their best credit cards. These rates are very high rates but not the best rates compared with other online banks. The money market rate is not the top rate whereas their certificates of deposit is one of the highest rates. They make up for their rates when it comes to customer service and their website.
