In our bank review of Wells Fargo, we looked at the basic information of what their checking accounts had to offer.  This post will go into more detail to help you decide if a checking account with Wells Fargo is a good option for you.

Wells Fargo Checking Accounts

Wells Fargo offers a number of different accounts available to choose from.  One great thing about the checking accounts they offer, is most of the accounts come in as a package deal with a savings account.  Wells Fargo offers automatic transfers and by transferring at least $25 a month into your savings account, you will be saving money as well as waiving the monthly checking account fee.  The monthly fees vary between the different accounts but range from $5 for their basic checking account to $30 for their preferred account.  As previously mentioned, the fee can be waived if you sign up for monthly automatic transfers, maintain a minimum monthly balance, sign up for direct deposit or by using your debit card a certain amount of times.  The fee waiving options may vary depending on which account you decide to open.  The minimum balance to open any account is $100, and $25 for the savings account if you open a checking account package account.

All of Wells Fargo checking accounts come with free bill pay, online banking, mobile banking and account alerts.  They also come with the option of overdraft protection.  Through overdraft protection you won’t have to worry about having insufficient funds, but you will be charged a fee if you have to use the overdraft protection.  While the protection can be a good thing, the best thing is to make sure you don’t use more money than you have in your account, the fees can get quite expensive.

Other Benefits of Checking

Wells Fargo checking accounts have something to suit everyone.  They have a checking accounts tailored to college students, those looking to save money, and those wanting to gain more interest on the money they have in their account.  They offer online banking so you can always know how much is in your account and have more than 3,000 branches around the United States, which makes them easy to contact.
